Overview
As organizations grow increasingly reliant on digital collaboration and cloud-based workflows, the risk of sensitive data exposure through accidental sharing, insider threats, or targeted attacks has never been greater. This course provides a comprehensive introduction to Data Loss Prevention (DLP)—a cornerstone technology in modern data security architecture that detects, monitors, and prevents unauthorized data transmission. Learners will explore how Versa’s DLP solution integrates with the VersaONE Universal SASE Platform to provide centralized visibility and consistent data protection across all applications, users, and devices.
The course begins by examining the business and regulatory drivers behind DLP adoption, including GDPR, HIPAA, PCI DSS, and other compliance frameworks. Learners will understand the various types of DLP—network, endpoint, email, and API-based—and their roles in identifying, classifying, and controlling the movement of sensitive information. Through these foundations, participants will gain insight into Versa’s advanced capabilities such as content inspection, exact data match (EDM), document fingerprinting, and optical character recognition (OCR) for comprehensive data security coverage.
Building on this foundation, the course transitions into detailed, hands-on configuration within Versa Concerto. Students will learn to define and apply data protection profiles, custom data patterns, and DLP rules to enforce enterprise data handling policies. Practical use cases walk through real-world DLP enforcement scenarios, including preventing exfiltration of credit card data using content analysis, blocking social security numbers using EDM, and identifying sensitive images through OCR. Configuration exercises also demonstrate how to integrate DLP enforcement with SASE Internet Protection Rules to block or alert on violations in real time, with all results monitored through Versa Analytics for visibility and auditability.
By the end of this course, learners will be equipped to deploy and manage Versa’s DLP solution effectively—ensuring sensitive data remains protected, compliance standards are upheld, and enterprise information is secured across all channels of communication and collaboration.
